About us

A small studio for software that has to work.

Campsite Studios builds focused software for Australian small businesses and the people who advise them. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who builds your software.

Why a campsite

A good campsite is simple. It's set up properly, everyone knows where things are, and whoever leaves last leaves it better than they found it. That's how we think about software.

Most of what we build replaces a spreadsheet, an email thread or a set of steps that lives in one person's head. The job isn't glamorous, but a business depends on it every week, and when it goes wrong it costs real money and real evenings.

So we build small, sturdy tools that do one job well, test them properly, and hand them over with everything you need to run them without us.

What we're good at

Software with real rules behind it: accounting standards, tenancy notice periods, working-hour limits, audit trails. We read the rule, write it into the code, and show the rule beside the answer so your team can check it.

We're also good at saying what a tool won't do. Every product we ship states its limits plainly, including when you should ask a professional instead.

Small software that ships, then holds up.

How a project runs, from first call to handover.

Every engagement follows the same four steps, whether it's a two-week build or a year-long retainer.

  1. A first call

Thirty minutes, free. We talk about the problem, who has it and what it costs you now, not about technology.

  2. A written scope

What's in, what's out, a fixed price and a timeline, agreed in writing before any work starts.

  3. Building in the open

A staging link from the first week and a short demo every Friday, so there are no surprises at the end.

  4. Handover and care

Your code, your hosting accounts, a runbook and two weeks of fixes. A monthly care retainer is there if you want it.

What we build with

Plain, well-supported tools that another developer can pick up without a guided tour. We choose hosting that's cheap to run and easy for you to own.
